Hotels in Serre Chevalier

We feel that a bit of local knowledge is going to be very useful when looking for a hotel in Serre Chevalier. We believe this because some of the info is just wrong on Booking.com, not massively, but not as good as it could be. An example of a an error is here:

Their listing for hotels in Serre Chevalier lists Hôtel Edelweiss first, as it is one of the cheapest and by default it sorts them on price from low to high. In the description it says,

“A traditional residence from the end of the 19th century, the Hotel Edelweiss has an authentic atmosphere, and is just few minutes’ walk from the ski slopes of Serre Chevalier.”

A few minutes walk! I reckon it’s about 20mins minimum in normal shoes, with skis you could double that, there is big steep hill to deal with too. To be fair I believe they have their own shuttle bus, but you need to be aware of this.

If you are looking for a good selection of Serre Chevalier hotels it is going to be worth your while reading this page at least. We have been living in Serre Chevalier since 2001 and although we haven’t stayed in every hotel, we certainly know where they are! This is particularly important in Serre Chevalier as it is not a typical ski resort. Serre Chevalier is actually a collective of a dozen or so villages and the town of Briançon. The valley has been here for thousands of years and skiing only started to happen at the end of it’s long long history, so if you are picking a hotel for a ski holiday you need to be careful. It’s OK though, we have you covered, there’s nothing like some local knowledge!
